Moonrise Festival 2018

The 2018 Moonrise Festival in Baltimore, Maryland had over 35,000 attendees per day. The festival took place at Pimlico Race Course.

The Moonrise Festival is a dubstep, progressive house, and electro house music festival.

The festival has been held annually in August since 2014.
In 2022, the festival returned with over 70,000 attendees.
The festival was a collaboration between Insomniac and Club Glow, an EDM company based in Washington, D.C

Light Action Production was responsible for all production elements from trucking, gear, site logititcs, structure, staging, scaffolding, tent structures, VIP build, Rigging, and Lighting.
The priamry stage I was in charge of with a fellow co-worker was the Lunar stage (2nd to main stage). Where we dealt with lighting floor package additions, special effects, and different artist requirements. Our goal was to setup all lighting, video walls, structure, staging, power, rigging, and signal control.
We worked with local stagehands to execute all of the build on Day 1 and a few for show call.

A challenge that presented itself to us on this event was a massive thunder storm rolled in, and grew with intensity as it got closer. Once lighting struck in a dangerous proximity, we had to evacute the 35,000+ attendees to shelter, and scramble to secure all of the stages and gear. Shortly after a monson and high winds were upon us. Thankfully we were able to recover alot of the gear and continue on.
