City of Dreams 2017 - Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas

City of Dreams was a Royal Caribbean original production performed in the Coral Theater on the Jewel of the Seas. This "cinematic" theatrical adventure transported the audience through ethereal real and imaginary locations, including ancient Atlantis, Venice, India, and the exotic East, culminating in the celestial "City of Dreams."

As a member of the Technical Stage Staff (STAT), I was responsible for the logistical and mechanical execution of the show’s "cinematic scenery." My role ensured that the mythical worlds of the production were seamlessly brought to life while maintaining strict safety standards on a moving vessel.

Key Technical Duties Included:

Scenic Setup & Transitions: I executed the complex deck track, which involved moving large, extravagant set pieces and props to represent shifting locations like Atlantis and Venice.

Automation Monitoring: I confirmed and called out the completion of all stage automation, including the movement of motorized platforms and scenic fly bars, ensuring they were clear of performers and other equipment.

Orchestra & Audio Support: I assisted in the technical setup for the live orchestra and managed the wireless audio systems used by the vocalists.

Lighting & Spot Operation: I operated follow-spots to track the high-energy dance numbers and assisted with the maintenance of the theater's LED and automated lighting infrastructure.

Talent & Costume Assistance: I supported the cast during rapid costume changes in the wings and ensured they were in their exact "spike" positions before each lighting or automation cue.

Maritime Safety: I strictly adhered to safety protocols, which included securing all scenery for high sea states and performing daily checks on rigging and emergency equipment.
